Frequently Asked Questions (TOP)
-
Can I wear a Wet Suit? Yes, if you choose to. Perhaps half of the participants wear them.
-
What is the water temperature expected? In Mid June, the water temp has usually been in the low to mid 60’s. Much depends on what kind of weather we have in the Spring.
-
What about first timers? We have two major purposes for this Triathlon. One: it has always been our intention to encourage people to get into Triathlons, by trying this one. The distance is short enough to be reasonable for newcomers to the sport. In fact, we have an award – called the Reiner/Rudy Award for the first man and the first woman who finish first – who have never done an individual Triathlon before.
Secondly: We want to provide a well-run event for more experienced triathletes to begin their summer racing season.
-
What about the venue? Green Lakes State Park is a beautiful site – the water is clear, basically calm. The bike course is as described in the text of the application and roads that are a mix of well traveled and rural country roads as well as portions within the park itself. The run is on dirt or in some places chip trails with mostly flat fast surfaces. There is only one approximately 100 foot climb about a mile out on the course.
