Joining Fee
An association-registration fee is required of all new members. This fee is to be paid in full at the time of enrollment. Memberships that have expired or have been cancelled for more than 30 days are subject to repayment of the registration fee to renew membership.

Payment Options

  1. APP: Electronically deducts your monthly dues from your checking account or charges your credit card. Activation of the monthly bank draft requires: first month’s payment*, a signed completed draft form and registration fee if it is a new membership.
  2. Annual Full Payment
  3. 3-Part Payment Plan: 1/3 of the yearly rate paid every 30 days, for the first three months.

* The month always begins on the 20th. Prorated charges may apply depending on the day of the month.

Monthly Bank Draft Membership Plan: (TOP)

Bank Drafts, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover drafts are the only ways the YMCA can accept monthly payments.  See the membership desk about our other convenient payment plans.

Financial Assistance - Membership For All: (TOP)

The YMCA of Greater Syracuse believes that everyone should have an opportunity to participate in membership and programs at any one of our three branches.  Membership For All is available for those who may not have the ability to pay for YMCA stated fees.  An income-based membership for families and individuals with a household icome that is less than $60,000.  Membership For All is designed to fit everyone's financial situation based on a sliding scale format.

Membership Cards: (TOP)

Each member will receive a permanent membership card.  Please give your card to the attendant at the Main Desk during each visit.  This helps our staff to ensure the safety of our members while using the facilities.  If you lose your card you will need to purchase a replacement card at the cost of $5.00.

Cancellation: (TOP)

A fifteen (15) day written notice and return of membership cards are required to terminate your membership.  We must receive your request by the 5th of the month to process for that month.
*Note: a 15 day notice, return of all membership cards and a completed termination form is required to cancel an APP membership.

Guest Pass Policy: (TOP)

Members age 18 years and older are permitted to bring a guest.  We ask that you not bring the same guest more than twice.  We also ask that you bring 1 guest in a time, as we need to keep space open for members.

Please note: members must stay in the building at all times with their guest.  Please be aware that the YMCA reserves the right to ask for proper I.D.

Age Requirement Policy: (TOP)

Facility

    • 11 and under must be supervised by an adult or YMCA Program Leader at all times while in the facility.
    • 12 and over may use the facility without an adult present in the facility.

Fitness Center/Free Weight Room

    • Ages 12-16 must complete Youth/Teen Strength Orientation Program (see page 20). Ages 17 and older are permitted on their own.  See Front Desk for more information.

Track/Free Weight Area

    • Ages 12-16 must have completed the Teen Strength Training Course.  (See the front desk for more information and page 10).
    • Ages 17 and over are permitted on their own.

Women’s Fitness Center/SYAC

    • Ages 18 and up are permitted to use the equipment.

These age requirement policies are in effect during all hours of operation.

Lockers & Locks (TOP)
For your protection, we strongly suggest using locks.  Locks must be removed after each use.  Please do not bring valuables into the building.  The YMCA is not responsible for any lost articles or stolen property.  Lockers are available for rent.  Please see the Membership Office for more information.

The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property.  Please check valuable with the front desk.  Members are also advised to bring padlocks for the use of day lockers.  All items found are stored at the front desk for 30 days

Men's SYAC (TOP)
SYAC membership includes use of a daily towel service; key operated lockers, a lounge area with big screen TV, billiard room, and daily laundry service for workout apparel, dry sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.  Massages can also be scheduled with the in house massage therapist at discounted rates.

26/26 (TOP)
The YMCA has released a new member category for working professionals. Our 26 for 26 program allows individuals to use the Y for only $26.00 per month if they earn less than $26,000 per year. This is for individual memberships only. This membership requires proof of income.

Rentals (TOP)
The YMCA facilities are available for rent.  This includes our gymnasium, pool, and conference rooms.  Rentals include equipment and, in the case of the pool, include a lifeguard.  Rentals include conference room usage with them.  Please contact the membership office for the fee schedule and availability.

AWAY Program (Always Welcome At the YMCA) (TOP)

A benefit of being a member of a YMCA is the AWAY program. This program is designed to accommodate out of town YMCA members who want to continue their routine while they are away from home.

When traveling out of town, YMCA of Greater Syracuse - Downtown Syracuse YMCA members, may use YMCAs throughout the United States by presenting their membership card including the AWAY identification. To locate YMCAs participating in the AWAY program, and possible fees, contact the YMCA Membership Office or log onto the YMCA of the USA home page at www.ymca.net.

Members of YMCAs outside of a 50 mile radius are welcome to visit the Downtown Syracuse YMCA on the AWAY program 10 times in one year at no charge and will then be asked to pay $5 per visit. Proper identification and a signed waiver are required.

Members visiting from other YMCAs within a 50 mile radius will be charged $5 per visit. This includes Fulton, Auburn, Oneida, Tri-Valley, Utica/Rome, Oswego and Cortland. Proper identification and a signed waiver are required.
