Age Care (TOP) The YMCA Fun Club philosophy is to develop the whole child through Spirit, Mind and Body. We reach this philosophy through Character Development activities focusing on the YMCA’s SPIRIT values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Weekly lessons are incorporated into each program to fulfill the needs of learning self control, communication and conflict resolution between peers. Each child that joins our Fun Club has the opportunity to engage in MIND activities such as creative art, blocks and building, hands on science and dramatic play. We also incorporate a YMCA literacy program, KidzLit, into each of our sites. Our goal through the KizLit program is to bring good books to life and help kids enjoy reading. We read a range of children’s literature featuring stories and characters from diverse cultures and backgrounds. We use these books to emphasize values such as respect, kindness, and responsibility. We have also recently incorporated a math program called KidzMath into each of our sites. The KidzMath program helps children develop number skills and learn to make fair decisions, be responsible, and assist one another. The games that follow the story are cooperative rather than competitive, therefore, your children will work together to reach a goal or to beat the game rather than beat each other. The result, children feel they are winners and feel confident and successful. Your children will also participate in a number of service learning and community involvement projects. These projects include but are not limited to donating artwork to the downtown Samaritan Center, canned food drives, hat and mitten drives, planting flowers for our schools and participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Hop-a-Thon. Each child that walks through our doors also gets the chance to engage in activities focusing on BODY. They enjoy healthy snacks each afternoon. Cooperative sports and physical group games are also utilized on a daily basis. There is time set aside each day for outdoor time as long as the weather permits. **School holiday care and ½ day care is also available** Fun Club Fees (per month): * First month fee due at registration. * 15% off 2nd child in family Morning Program Afternoon
